*sponsored by Kodak Digitizing Box I believe the greatest gift you can ever receive is a beautiful memory. I’d rather have a special day, or meal, or adventure, or trip that gives me a special memory than any material object. We live in a digital age which makes picture taking so easy, aren’t we lucky to have all our present day memories captured in digital format? But what about those memories you have before this modern age of digital preservation? Where are all of your pictures from childhood, the pictures of your relatives, the old tapes and films from the past? Are they sitting in a box or an album? Do you wish that you could have them in digital format so that they would be protected forever? Friends, the best gift you can ever give this season is the preservation of memories. What could be more meaningful than the peace of mind knowing your history is preserved for yourself and future generations?
I’ve already done this process myself, preserving all the videos and pictures from when my children were little. I’m SO very happy I did it. Because I know those memories are forever preserved in digital format (and I backed them up on a cloud) I can breathe easier. Because whenever I’m feeling nostalgic, I can open them in an instant and watch those scenes from those precious moments from the past. And because I can share them anytime with friends or family in just a few seconds. I’ve also learned living through devastating wildfires that any natural disaster threatens to take these memories from you if you haven’t backed them up somewhere. The Kodak Digitizing Box is the easiest way to ensure that your memories are preserved forever.
This is the kind of gift that is truly touching and I’ll tell you why. There is nothing so beautiful as hearing the voices and seeing the mannerisms of loved ones from the past. Which is why I chose to give the preservation of memories as a gift to my best friend’s family. Regular readers know that earlier this year I lost my best friend to cancer. It was a rough year and a very rough summer watching her deteriorate from the disease and eventually die. It shattered my heart in a million pieces. I knew it would be a wonderful holiday gift to her husband and kids to preserve all the old videos and photographs of their times together. The process couldn’t be easier… this is how it works: They send you a box with a tracking number and order number with clear instructions on what you can include. …. it can be VHS tapes, video camera tapes, 35mm film, printed photographs, etc.
You follow the extremely simple instructions, labeling the tapes and sets of photographs with the included barcode stickers.
You choose how you want to receive your digitally captured memories, and in a few weeks you receive: DVDs of your videos and photos ….
OR a digital folder so you can download them to your computer or phone…
OR a thumb drive which captures them all in one singular place…
Just this little thumb drive holds hundreds of memories!! Amazing! And all your memories in their original format (films, photographs, etc.) are returned to you. So you guys.. when you’re thinking about the most meaningful gift you can give this season, think about digital memory preservation, and consider the Kodak Digitizing Box! Words cannot express the excitement I have now that I’m renting a design studio. Inside this place I see so much potential for creativity! It’s a light and bright space with white walls and natural wood floors, I’m very excited to use it for all my styling and photography needs! I’ve been playing with various props and I set up a basic sofa. I bought the SÖDERHAMN from IKEA and it’s so versatile, it can be styled as a sectional or two loveseats so I’ll be rearranging it a lot. I also bought a collection of black and white pillows for everyday use, I found some really affordable quality mudcloth patterns on Amazon and a great lumbar at World Market. Sources below!
black mudcloth set of 2 / white mudcloth set of 2 / dhurrie lumbar The greatest thing about black and white patterns is you can mix them up in just about any combination, the classic palette makes it easy. More favorite patterns below!
embroidered waves / diagonal dash / b&w woven textured diamond / global lumbar / brushstroke ivory tassel (also in black) / boho tribal / geo fringe abstract waves / dash / black fringe (also in white)
If you’re looking for even more sources for the mudcloth textile, see this post on Etsy sellers of mudcloth pillow covers. . from https://centsationalstyle.com/2018/11/black-white-pillows/ Oh my golly, a first birthday party! As I always tell anyone who’ll listen, Party Pieces is our “go to” for all things party related, and I was overjoyed when I discovered their magical fairy range of party items. They’re gorgeous! Everything from plates, cups, napkins and party bags, through to oh-so-pretty cake kits, even a first birthday balloon and pretty fairy lights which made it look all the more magical! To accompany the pretty fairies, we teamed the items up with some beautiful butterflies, a super pretty garland that we hung as a backdrop and utterly adorable butterfly clips. I’ve no doubt they’ll make an appearance in Pip’s bedroom here as they can be re-used again and again. I even used them to decorate Pip’s cake! Party Pieces once again delivered the most perfect party! The post First Birthday Party appeared first on Party Pieces Blog & Inspiration. from https://blog.partypieces.co.uk/kids-birthday/1st/first-birthday-party/ I was at my local IKEA last week buying a sofa and on my way to the checkout line noticed they had a lot of lighted Christmas decor that was really good. The Strala lighted wreath caught my eye, it’s simple and white, but I thought why not embellish it with paper leaves to personalize it.
Every holiday season I sit down to do one or two crafts while I watch a classic movie. In years past I made a pretty paper leaf garland and sparkle confetti garland and a wrapping paper wreath to name a few. This year I was inspired to create a lighted paper leaf wreath using golden marbled cardstock and the plain white LED lighted wreath as a base.
This is a great project if you host a craft night with your friends since it only takes about an hour to assemble, and you can use any color or pattern of cardstock you like.
There’s no such thing as too many twinkle lights during the holidays, amiright?
For this simple DIY project, you need is the lighted wreath from IKEA, 4 sheets of cardstock to make the leaves, floral wire, scissors, a glue stick, and white floral tape.
To begin, cut two pieces of cardstock together to form a leaf about 3 inches long…
Next, cut floral wire about five or six inches long and insert between each leaf side…
… a simple glue stick secures both side of the leaf together.
for each leaf, wrap the floral wire around the wreath to secure it…
rotate the placement of the leaves adding them inside and outside….
continue adding leaves as you work your way around the wreath….
when complete, cover the wire with white floral tape…
plug in and hang it up anywhere you like! . from https://centsationalstyle.com/2018/11/twinkle-light-paper-leaf-wreath/ Weekend greetings! It was the One Room Challenge reveal week, which I always look forward to, so I highlighted some favorite spaces below. Today I’m opening up my Christmas closet to add a few holiday touches to my living room and also my new design studio. I bought a white sofa at IKEA and I’ll be assembling it this weekend, I can’t wait to share the space where I’ll be doing a lot of creative work! While I was at IKEA I noticed they had a really beautiful collection of holiday paper star lanterns this year, I wanted one of each! I love them clustered and hanging from light fixtures or on walls, they’re so festive this time of year. :) source unknown . Have a great weekend! from https://centsationalstyle.com/2018/11/weekend-reading-174/ After spending many years staring at my master bathroom space and greatly disliking the finishes, the time has come to give the space a modern makeover. I’ve been living with broken and chipped tile that was never properly installed and a space containing not-so-exciting finishes. It’s functional but just not my style so this winter I’m giving my master bathroom a full renovation. I’ll be partnering with Lowe’s on this project, and the demo on the bathroom starts next week. The first project will be installing new flooring, and I’ll have much to stay about that! The next project will be the cabinet and finish selections, then choosing the perfect neutral but not boring tile and designing an interesting installation. The final touches will be adding the sconces, faucets, mirrors, and shelving, and of course styling and photographing it for the final reveal. I’m calling it my “transitional zen” bathroom remodel. I’m focused on classic elements like white tile and wood cabinets but it will have a relaxing hotel-ish vibe. This is the floor plan I’m working with, it’s a nice sized bathroom with room for free standing tub, separate toilet room, walk-in shower, double sink vanity and a prep/makeup vanity on the other side.
I’m a huge fan of the pairing of classic white tile and wood cabinets. Notice how in mostly white bathrooms, wood cabinetry adds the perfect amount of contrast and warmth to a bathroom space.
I really love large scale stack bond tile installations, I’ve noticed them in several hotel bathrooms I’ve stayed in. The bigger scale looks amazing in walk in showers. I’ll be doing the same in the shower and also including inset wall niches for shampoo, shower gel, etc.
I’ll be removing the existing built in tub and adding a free standing tub to the space instead as well as shelves to the walls above the tub for additional storage.
These are a few of the fixtures and finishes I’m considering for the space:
I’ll be documenting the process as it happens, from the demolition to the final result. The first step is the demo and installation of the new flooring, stay tuned for that post coming later this month! All opinions throughout the renovation are of course my own! from https://centsationalstyle.com/2018/11/master-bathroom-design-plan/ There is quite simply nothing prettier than a pink tea party. What better way for your future mother-in-law to welcome you to the family than to throw you one in her home! This was to be a chic hen party afternoon tea that included all the girls in both sides of the family, from the littlest niece right up to the Grannies. The Team Bride items in pale pink and rose gold were the perfect match for our pale pink vintage china and these teamed with the rose gold runner and a pink lace overlay set the scene beautifully. Dianne, the Groom’s mum, is famed locally for her home baking and the afternoon tea she provided did not disappoint! Our vintage china cake stands were heaving with her sweet treats and even the welcome drinks had some frosted fruits sat beside them for everyone to help themselves to on arrival. For the littlest ladies in the party, the Team Bride balloons were popped into balloon sticks and sat in a vase at the welcome board. The afternoon was a huge success with everyone bonding before the actual big day of the wedding reception and the guests left with a goody bag full of more treats too. Wishing Sharelle and Graeme every happiness in their future together as Mr & Mrs Dunlop. The post Real Party: Sharelle’s Chic Afternoon Tea Hen Party appeared first on Party Pieces Blog & Inspiration. from https://blog.partypieces.co.uk/occasions/hen-party/real-party-sharelles-chic-afternoon-tea-hen-party/ When Anna turned 9, she asked her Mum if she could have some friends round for a party. She is a little lady who loves all things rose gold & unicorns so the rose gold party in a box provided all that was needed for 16 little ladies to have a fabulous party. In the box were 16 plates, cups, napkins, confetti balloons, a happy birthday banner, and little cone party hats that most of the girls placed on their heads like a unicorn horn! I printed off these magical unicorn sips and treats signs using the free printables section of the Party Pieces blog together with some unicorn games and puzzles. These were then popped into the party bags along with a few of these unicorn tattoos. The sparkly rose gold runner matched the party items perfectly and a few little lanterns with battery tealights set the scene. The girls also decorated some plain tea biscuits using icing, mini-mallows, fizzy rainbow belts and sugar paper unicorns – how cute do they look!? Some jazzies meringues were made by simply dipping shop bought mini-meringues into melted white choc and hundreds and thousands. These were then placed onto the reversible cakestand together with some girly top hats and fruit kebabs. A great time was had by all and the party decor was a huge hit with Anna!

Today I’m sharing an inexpensive gift idea to give to your friends or teachers or coworkers. Or keep one for yourself! And it costs less than $5 ! I made two versions of these free printable 2019 desk calendars, perfect for anyone who works at a computer. They look so cute on a desktop sitting on an easel!
I created two versions of this free printable calendar, one in black + white and one in color:
When you print them you’ll notice I added a faint perforated line so they can be evenly cut in the same size.
The PDF printable calendars are available to download for free in both watercolor waves ….
…. and a black and white version.
Download the PDFs here: Watercolor Waves 2019 Desk CalendarBlack + White 2019 Desk Calendar
To give as a gift, print them out (I recommend cardstock not regular printer paper) and combine the calendar in a small gift bag with a mini easel for display. I found both the mini white and acrylic easel and the black easel at Michael’s craft store where they sell easels large and small, they are both less than $5. :) By the way the DIY resin top desk is totally amazing and holding up beautifully, I’m still so pleased with how it turned out!! More holiday gift ideas coming soon!
Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year? Or perhaps a friendsgiving celebration? Whenever it’s my turn I bring out my basics: a neutral tablecloth with white dishes on top of a gold or silver charger. I mix it up by adding a new table runner or set of napkins and voila, I get a new look using my already in place staples. Retailers with their stylists and marketing teams can make a convincing case that you need an entirely new setup of the newest and cutest but really, the easiest way to give your existing pieces a new look for the season is just by introducing new linens. I’m all for less predictable palettes as well. Skip the orange leaf motifs and introduce a black and white version instead. All shades of blue are the complement to orange on the color wheel, so consider introducing a vivid or slate blue to traditional orange.
Brick reds transition well to Christmas, and stripes and plaids are always classics this time of year.
This is also the time of year to be glamorous by displaying shiny and muted metallics on your tabletop.
